Bob has 25+ years of experience in Employee Benefits Consulting and Brokerage, and is an expert in employee benefit plan design, financing, administration, and communication. He has worked with hospitals, healthcare systems, technology companies, manufacturing and retail businesses, associations and other affinity groups. Bob’s wealth of experience grants him a unique perspective on the sustainable value created by well-designed employee benefit programs.
Prior to founding Sagewell Partners, Bob managed his own consulting firm. He also worked for international consulting organizations, employee benefit carriers, and a hospital group purchasing organization.
Bob earned a BA and MBA from Duquesne University and is an active supporter of several community, educational, and other civic organizations, including Smile Train and the MS Society.

Chief Executive Officer
David is responsible for the overall business operations for Sagewell, including strategic planning, financial management, and client service delivery. He is an expert in the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of benefits and pension administration solutions and has been recognized industry-wide for this expertise since the first decade of his career.
Prior to joining Sagewell Partners, David spent 20 years at Morneau Shepell, most recently serving as that company’s Managing Partner of U.S. Operations. In that position, he oversaw business operations for benefits administration and outsourcing business in the United States. In addition, David served as a member of the Executive Committee of Morneau Shepell Income Fund, which was responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the firm.
David earned a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and is involved with the American Diabetes Association.

President, Disability & Life Practice Leader
With more than 20 years of experience in the employee benefit industry, Rich is a recognized expert in the underwriting, design, negotiation, development, and implementation of a broad range of employee benefit plans. As the leader of our Group Disability & Life practice area, Rich has worked extensively with organizations to design strategic, highly effective programs.
Before founding Sagewell Partners, Rich served as the President of Fennell Consulting Group, a benefits consulting firm that specialized in providing expert group disability & life consulting support to mid and large market organizations. Prior to that, he was a National Practice Consultant for UnumProvident Corporation, where he designed and implemented group disability & life arrangements.
Rich earned a BA from Bowdoin College and is active with a number of civic and charitable organizations, including the HOPE Network and Children’s Hospital Foundation.

With 24 years of experience in employee benefits, Larry is an expert in evaluating program design, provider networks, funding structures, and pricing/underwriting provisions. He has worked with hundreds of clients in the design and cost effective management of their benefit programs and specializes in medical, Rx, dental and vision benefits along with stop loss programs.
Prior to joining Sagewell Partners in 2006, Larry held a senior consulting position for over a decade with a national benefits consulting firm. He also worked as an Account Executive with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield’s national account area for eight years prior to his consulting experience. Larry began his career in corporate finance at a Fortune 50 firm.
Larry earned a BA, MBA, and MPIA all from the University of Pittsburgh.

Vice President, Client Services
Jason is responsible for overall client service delivery and client retention. Through his extensive knowledge of employee benefits, Jason guides our clients through their annual renewal process and helps them implement strategic plans throughout the year.
Prior to joining Sagewell Partners, Jason spent five years at a regional health plan based in Pittsburgh. In his role as Account Manager, Jason managed the employee health benefits for several large and midsized employers in the Pittsburgh region. He worked with both clients and underwriters to develop annual renewal and financial projections as well as to develop plan designs and implement wellness initiatives.
Jason earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Vice President, Finance & Administration
Vita is a Licensed CPA with more than 30 years of accounting, finance, operations and cash management experience. At Sagewell Partners, she directs and manages the firm’s financial, treasury, accounting, information technology and administrative affairs. She also leads all financial administration, financial business planning and budgeting.
Prior to joining Sagewell, Vita served as CFO for a consulting services firm and Controller for a private insurance company dealing primarily with life, disability, and health insurance for Major League Baseball. Vita has also served as Vice President of Accounting and Treasurer for the U.S. and Canadian holdings of Ladbroke Racing USA, a $1.2 billion division.
Vita earned a BS in Business Administration from West Virginia University and is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Absence Management Practice Leader
Holly specializes in providing solutions that mitigate the costs associated with employee absences. Working closely with carriers and other vendor partners, Holly brings more than 15 years of expertise in Absence Management Best Practices, Return to Work Programs, Leave of Absence Statutory Requirements, and Disability Management Programs. She is highly skilled at developing and implementing practical, customized solutions that focus on outcomes and maximize cost savings for employers of all sizes.
Holly has served as Vice President on the Board of the Disability Management Employer Coalition – Ohio Chapter, and has presented for The Ohio State Bar Association, The Ohio Self Insurers Association, The Michigan Self Insurers Association, The Disability Management Employer Coalition and The Integrated Business Institute’s CE Series.
She earned her BA in Psychology from Baldwin Wallace College and her Master of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling from Kent State University. She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (15068).

Director, HR Consulting
With more than 25 years of experience in human resources, Marisa functions as a critical extension of our clients’ HR teams, providing compliance; reporting; and legislative, communications and research analysis and consulting. Her expertise includes health and welfare benefit administration, employment issues, employee relations and HR compliance.
Marisa has management experience in both public and private companies and experience in major healthcare settings. She has helped employers prepare strategic plans, coordinated benefit renewals and annual open enrollments, implemented new benefit programs, managed budgets, developed policies and procedures, assisted in compliance-related matters, and provided guidance to managers on day-to-day human resources issues.
She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). She received her undergraduate degree in Communications and Business at Villanova University and has a Master’s Degree in Human Resources from St. Francis University.
